Upcoming Events

  • Forge showcase: The Alchemist

I am very pleased to have been invited to take part in this month’s showcase at Forge. Forge is a creative hub focused on jewellery, situated in the famous Hatton Garden area.

From the Forge website: “Explore transformation through the language of metal with Rebecca de Quin in The Alchemist. Shaped by the classic, this theme opens up space for experimentation — including patination, texture, and form. We have welcomed works that embody transformation, material mastery, and the alchemy of craft, balancing traditional and contemporary techniques.

A short excerpt from the book that inspired this showcase:

“The book that most interested the boy told stories of alchemists. They dedicated their lives to the purification of metals; believed if metal were heated for years, it would free itself of all individual properties and be the Soul of the World. They spent years observing the fire, so close that the purification of metals led to purification of themselves.”

    — The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho”

    • Showcase Open:  Thursday 2nd July - Tuesday 28th July

    • Visit: Monday - Friday, 10am - 6pm

    • Address: 59 Leather Lane, London EC1N 7TJ

  • Eastbourne College Contemporary Craft Show

Another new show from the Sussex Guild, this time in the graceful seaside town of Eastbourne. It runs over the weekend of Saturday 17th - Sunday 18th October.

From the Sussex Guild website: “We’re delighted to be exhibiting at Eastbourne College, another new venue for the Guild this year. It’s a stone’s throw from Towner gallery, in this culturally rich coastal town.

Members will be showing wonderful examples of handmade ceramics, furniture, glass, jewellery, knitwear, metalsmithing, textiles and woodwork. Work will be on display throughout the sports hall in the impressive Winn Building.

An inviting college café will be serving refreshments throughout the weekend, and there are plenty of cafés within the nearby Devonshire Quarter, Eastbourne’s cultural centre, as well as the seafront promenade.

Assistance dogs only are permitted. There is a short flight of stairs to the venue. A lift is available for those with mobility issues.”

See the website for details of opening times, parking and rail travel.

  • Midhurst Contemporary Craft Show

Running over the weekend of Saturday 5th - Sunday 6th of December, this is the Sussex Guild’s biggest and best-loved show, ideally scheduled for pre-Christmas shopping. It is held in the spacious Midhurst Rother College, which has abundant parking. I will add more details as they become available.
